THE HOLY SPIRIT – Bringing Gospel Impact By the Anointing

John 16:8-11 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
8 “When the Helper comes, he will show the people of the world how wrong they are about sin, about being right with God, and about judgment. 9 He will prove that they are guilty of sin, because they don’t believe in me. 10 He will show them how wrong they are about how to be right with God. The Helper will do this, because I am going to the Father. You will not see me then. 11 And he will show them how wrong their judgment is, because their leader has already been condemned.

John 16:8-11 Living Bible (TLB)
8 “And when he has come he will convince the world of its sin, and of the availability of God’s goodness, and of deliverance from judgment.  9 The world’s sin is unbelief in me;  10 there is righteousness available because I go to the Father and you shall see me no more;  11 there is deliverance from judgment because the prince of this world has already been judged.

John 16:8-11 The Message (MSG)
8-11 “When he comes, he’ll expose the error of the godless world’s view of sin, righteousness, and judgment: He’ll show them that their refusal to believe in me is their basic sin; that righteousness comes from above, where I am with the Father, out of their sight and control; that judgment takes place as the ruler of this godless world is brought to trial and convicted.

John 16:8-11 GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
8 He will come to convict the world of sin, to show the world what has God’s approval, and to convince the world that God judges it.  9 He will convict the world of sin, because people don’t believe in me.  10 He will show the world what has God’s approval, because I’m going to the Father and you won’t see me anymore.  11 He will convince the world that God judges it, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

Acts 10:44-47
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.  46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered, 47 “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”  48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.

Luke 4:18-19 New King James Version (NKJV)
18“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

v  The Holy Spirit is ALWAYS present where the gospel is being preached or restated.

v  It is the Holy Spirit who takes the gospel of Jesus Christ and impresses its truth and power to save on the souls of men.

v  The anointing is the Holy Spirit upon a person. The presence of the Holy Spirit is synonymous with the presence of the anointing. Acts 10:38, 1 Sam 16:12-13.

v  The anointing is the Holy Spirit manifesting tangibly through a person to God’s bidding.

v  The anointing is not an influence, power or force – the anointing is the Person of the Holy Spirit who abides in us achieving and accomplishing the purpose of God in and through us.

v  The anointing is not synonymous with an office or position. In fact, when the anointing is absent, the office becomes a problem subjecting both God and His work to ridicule.

v  One can be anointed without having a man-ordained office.

v  As the gospel is being restated to us in this season, we need the vivid presence of the Holy Spirit to bring God’s desired impact in lives:
  • To convict us of sin, deliver us from its yoke and bring us to the Cross of Calvary.
  • To help us understand that the righteousness acceptable to God is not our own but His righteousness by faith in Christ.
  • To prove that the judgement day is a reality.
  • To open the eyes of the spiritually blind to the truth of the complete gospel.
  • To deliver those who have been kept in bondage to the sinful nature (Adam’s nature)  and empty religion
  • To bring many sons to glory in Christ Jesus through deliberate discipleship.
  • To prepare us for eternity with Jesus in heaven.

Prayer Points

·    Holy Spirit, please attend to us in this season when the gospel of Christ is being restated so deliberately to us.

·      Holy Spirit, we desire Your vivid and tangible presence in our lives working the mystery of the gospel into the very fabric of our lives.

·      For many who are hearing the complete gospel restated for the first time, Holy Spirit, come and convince them of its truth. Let them see what they have not seen before and take away every veil and blindness.

·       Come, Holy Spirit and let Your anointing be upon those who are restating the gospel to us at this time – deliver many who have been kept in bondage to the old nature through the deception of empty religion. With the restating of the gospel, Holy Spirit bring about liberty to those who have been oppressed by false prophets and teachers.

·         Holy Spirit, by Your great power, deliver us from self-righteousness and the need to ‘do’. Help us to see that we have no righteousness of our own but that which is by faith in Christ Jesus.

·       As you did in the house of Cornelius, Holy Spirit come upon everyone who is hearing the gospel restated and bring true salvation to the hearts of all. Acts 10:44.

·    We pray for tonight’s Mystery of the Gospel Platform, Holy Spirit come and anoint your vessels for Your use. As they speak, let the Word be accompanied by signs following. Let there be a demonstration of  Your power and not the eloquence or wisdom of man.
