THE HOLY SPIRIT – Bringing Gospel Impact By the Anointing

John 16:8-11 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
8 “When the Helper comes, he will show the people of the world how wrong they are about sin, about being right with God, and about judgment. 9 He will prove that they are guilty of sin, because they don’t believe in me. 10 He will show them how wrong they are about how to be right with God. The Helper will do this, because I am going to the Father. You will not see me then. 11 And he will show them how wrong their judgment is, because their leader has already been condemned.

John 16:8-11 Living Bible (TLB)
8 “And when he has come he will convince the world of its sin, and of the availability of God’s goodness, and of deliverance from judgment.  9 The world’s sin is unbelief in me;  10 there is righteousness available because I go to the Father and you shall see me no more;  11 there is deliverance from judgment because the prince of this world has already been judged.

John 16:8-11 The Message (MSG)
8-11 “When he comes, he’ll expose the error of the godless world’s view of sin, righteousness, and judgment: He’ll show them that their refusal to believe in me is their basic sin; that righteousness comes from above, where I am with the Father, out of their sight and control; that judgment takes place as the ruler of this godless world is brought to trial and convicted.

John 16:8-11 GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
8 He will come to convict the world of sin, to show the world what has God’s approval, and to convince the world that God judges it.  9 He will convict the world of sin, because people don’t believe in me.  10 He will show the world what has God’s approval, because I’m going to the Father and you won’t see me anymore.  11 He will convince the world that God judges it, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

Acts 10:44-47
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.  46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered, 47 “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”  48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.

Luke 4:18-19 New King James Version (NKJV)
18“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

v  The Holy Spirit is ALWAYS present where the gospel is being preached or restated.

v  It is the Holy Spirit who takes the gospel of Jesus Christ and impresses its truth and power to save on the souls of men.

v  The anointing is the Holy Spirit upon a person. The presence of the Holy Spirit is synonymous with the presence of the anointing. Acts 10:38, 1 Sam 16:12-13.

v  The anointing is the Holy Spirit manifesting tangibly through a person to God’s bidding.

v  The anointing is not an influence, power or force – the anointing is the Person of the Holy Spirit who abides in us achieving and accomplishing the purpose of God in and through us.

v  The anointing is not synonymous with an office or position. In fact, when the anointing is absent, the office becomes a problem subjecting both God and His work to ridicule.

v  One can be anointed without having a man-ordained office.

v  As the gospel is being restated to us in this season, we need the vivid presence of the Holy Spirit to bring God’s desired impact in lives:
  • To convict us of sin, deliver us from its yoke and bring us to the Cross of Calvary.
  • To help us understand that the righteousness acceptable to God is not our own but His righteousness by faith in Christ.
  • To prove that the judgement day is a reality.
  • To open the eyes of the spiritually blind to the truth of the complete gospel.
  • To deliver those who have been kept in bondage to the sinful nature (Adam’s nature)  and empty religion
  • To bring many sons to glory in Christ Jesus through deliberate discipleship.
  • To prepare us for eternity with Jesus in heaven.

Prayer Points

·    Holy Spirit, please attend to us in this season when the gospel of Christ is being restated so deliberately to us.

·      Holy Spirit, we desire Your vivid and tangible presence in our lives working the mystery of the gospel into the very fabric of our lives.

·      For many who are hearing the complete gospel restated for the first time, Holy Spirit, come and convince them of its truth. Let them see what they have not seen before and take away every veil and blindness.

·       Come, Holy Spirit and let Your anointing be upon those who are restating the gospel to us at this time – deliver many who have been kept in bondage to the old nature through the deception of empty religion. With the restating of the gospel, Holy Spirit bring about liberty to those who have been oppressed by false prophets and teachers.

·         Holy Spirit, by Your great power, deliver us from self-righteousness and the need to ‘do’. Help us to see that we have no righteousness of our own but that which is by faith in Christ Jesus.

·       As you did in the house of Cornelius, Holy Spirit come upon everyone who is hearing the gospel restated and bring true salvation to the hearts of all. Acts 10:44.

·    We pray for tonight’s Mystery of the Gospel Platform, Holy Spirit come and anoint your vessels for Your use. As they speak, let the Word be accompanied by signs following. Let there be a demonstration of  Your power and not the eloquence or wisdom of man.

The Comforter Brings Revelaton

John 16:7-15Amplified Bible (AMP)
7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you]. 8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world about [the guilt of] sin [and the need for a Savior], and about righteousness, and about judgment: 9 about sin [and the true nature of it], because they do not believe in Me [and My message]; 10 about righteousness [personal integrity and godly character], because I am going to My Father and you will no longer see Me; 11 about judgment [the certainty of it], because the ruler of this world (Satan) has been judged and condemned. 12 “I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear [to hear] them now. 13 But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth [full and complete truth]. For He will not speak on His own initiative, but He will speak whatever He hears [from the Father—the message regarding the Son], and He will disclose to you what is to come [in the future]. 14 He will glorify and honor Me, because He (the Holy Spirit) will take from what is Mine and will disclose it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Because of this I said that He [the Spirit] will take from what is Mine and will reveal it to you.

1 Corinthians 2:7-13 Amplified Bible (AMP)
7 but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the wisdom once hidden [from man, but now revealed to us by God, that wisdom] which God predestined before the ages to our glory [to lift us into the glory of His presence]. 8 None of the rulers of this age recognized and understood this wisdom; for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory; 9 but just as it is written [in Scripture], “Things which the eye has not seen and the ear has not heard,
And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him [who hold Him in affectionate reverence, who obey Him, and who gratefully recognize the benefits that He has bestowed].” 10 For God has unveiled them and revealed them to us through the [Holy] Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things [diligently], even [sounding and measuring] the [profound] depths of God [the divine counsels and things far beyond human understanding]. 11 For what person knows the thoughts and motives of a man except the man’s spirit within him? So also no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the [Holy] Spirit who is from God, so that we may know and understand the [wonderful] things freely given to us by God. 13 We also speak of these things, not in words taught or supplied by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining and interpreting spiritual thoughts with spiritual words [for those being guided by the Holy Spirit].

I Corinthians 2:9-12 (New English Bible)
9 But, in the word of Scripture, ‘Things beyond our seeing, things beyond our hearing, things beyond our imagining, all prepared by God for those who love Him’, 10 these it is that God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit explores everything, even the depths of God’s won nature. 11 Among men, who knows what a man is but the man’s own spirit. In the same way, only the Spirit of God knows what God is. 12 This is the Spirit that we have received from God, and not the spirit of this world, so that we may know all that God of his own grace has given us;

·    The Comforter who abides with us, is the One who reveals to ALL that we need to know. Without His abiding presence, we are totally in the dark.

Prayer: Father, thank You for sending the promised Comforter to us and for not leaving us in the dark. How would we have coped with the truth of the mystery of the gospel without the Spirit of Truth who reveals things that are beyond human imagination? We thank You, Lord!

·   The ministry of the Comforter in our lives is to reveal, unveil, disclose, uncover, expose, unravel, lay bare, unwrap, bring out, divulge and let out things that are normally beyond our sight, our hearing and our imagination.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, abide with me! Reveal, unveil, unravel and lay bare the things of God to my heart. Unwrap and disclose the mind of the Father to me.

·   The Spirit we have received, the Comforter who abides with us forever, takes the things of Christ’s life that we can’t imagine and discloses them to us.

Ephesians 1:16-18 Good News Translation (GNT)
16 I have not stopped giving thanks to God for you. I remember you in my prayers  17 and ask the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, to give you the Spirit, who will make you wise and reveal God to you, so that you will know him.  18 I ask that your minds may be opened to see his light, so that you will know what is the hope to which he has called you, how rich are the wonderful blessings he promises his people,

Prayer: Spirit of God, disclose to my heart the things pertaining to this new life of Christ in me. Without Your help I can never fully imagine the life I’ve been called to live. Open my mind to the realities of the new creation life.

·   The many things we could not bare or handle or grasp before (i.e the mystery of the gospel), NOW that we have the Comforter abiding with us, we can understand them and walk in them.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, Spirit of Truth, reveal the mystery of the gospel to my heart. Help me to grasp fully the mysteriousness of the complete un-fragmented gospel. Take away any shadow of doubt or lack of clarity I may have about the complete gospel.

Holy Spirit, make plain to me the things Jesus has spoken to me so that I can gain understanding and live them.

·   Who could really understand or handle the truth of the mysterious gospel of Jesus Christ unless the Holy Spirit testifies and bears witness of Him in us?  (John 15:26)

Prayer: Holy Spirit, please testify and bear witness of Christ in my heart. Let my heart be filled with the revelation of Christ and Him crucified.

·    We have not received the spirit of this world, but the Spirit of God Himself so that we can know and understand everything that God has provided for us inside Christ.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, unravel and divulge to me all that has been provided for me in Christ. Help me to see clearly and vividly the premise, position & location, provision and privileges of the new creation life.

·    We must learn to wait on the Holy Spirit for revelation. As Jesus did nothing but what He saw His Father do, so also we must learn to wait for the Holy Spirit to reveal the mind of God to us in any situation.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, teach me to wait silently and patiently on You to reveal to me what the Father is doing everyday of my life. Open my eyes and illuminate my heart, Spirit Divine.
