“……But by My Spirit, says the Lord….” (Part 1)

Join this HeartCry Prayer- Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 11.30am-1.30pm (UK time)

Text: Zechariah 4:1-14
6 Then he said, “This is God’s message to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty—you will succeed because of my Spirit, though you are few and weak.’ 7 Therefore no mountain, however high, can stand before Zerubbabel! For it will flatten out before him! And Zerubbabel will finish building this Temple with mighty shouts of thanksgiving for God’s mercy, declaring that all was done by grace alone.”* (TLB)

Excerpts from the Welcome Charge of the Ministers’ Leadership Retreat (MLR) for us to pray through here.
“The move of God in our day must be steeped in and sustained by the Spirit. It must be motivated and directed by the Holy Spirit.”
  • This will not be by my own ability, experience, strength, expertise and motivation
  • This will not be sustained by my energy and will power. In fact, the arm of flesh will fail in this move.
  • This will be purely and only by His Spirit. God is announcing that I will have nothing to do with this move. It’s time for the One who has been sent to be allowed to sustain it, motivate it and direct it.
Prayer
  • Father, help me not to hijack Your work by infusing my own energy or experience.
  • Grant me understanding of the Holy Spirit’s role in this revival so that I will know how to conduct myself properly.
  • Holy Spirit, be the One who motivates, directs and sustains this move of God in me and through me
 “Those who will have any space in this move must be men and women who live actually the Christ’s life by the Spirit.”
  • Much has been done in the Lord’s name but by the energy of the flesh and through other means other than the Spirit.
Prayer:
  • Holy Spirit, activate the Christ life in me on a daily basis.
  • Help me to depend on You, Holy Spirit, every day and at every instance, to quicken the divine life in me
  • This Life can only be lived by the power of the Holy Spirit in me. Lord, don’t let me try to live the Christ life by the flesh.
  • Holy Spirit, empower me to live continually in the consciousness that ‘I am dead’ (Rom 6:6, Gal 2:20), so that the Christ life can be powerfully revealed in me.

 “They must be men and women who have been emptied of the self-life enough for Christ to take residence in them. They have no confidence in the flesh and its allurements. They can do nothing anymore of their own selves.”
  • Lord, if there be anything of my old nature that I still have confidence in, strip me of it completely. I renounce such today.
  • Lord, I am Your house. Complete Your work of decluttering me so that Christ has space to reveal Himself in me without hindrance or obstacles. Help me to address any shortfalls in my decluttering.
  • Philippians 3:3 (NLT) – Father, help me to continually see that there is and will never be anything I can do for You in human effort. Let me by totally reliant on what Christ has done for me and nothing besides.
“We need to learn how to walk in and by the Spirit. We must wait on the Lord for instruction on how to let the Spirit be the leader, the Chief Executive and Worker of all that God wants to do through us in this day of His power.”
  • The main work of the new creation life is one of waiting; waiting on Him to do what He wants to do, when He wants to do it and how He wants to do it. Romans 12:1
  • In our eagerness and ignorance, we have hurried ahead of the Lord to do His work our own way and in our own time.
  • We have not always been patient in waiting for Him to lead and direct His own work.

Prayer:
“Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” Galatians 5:25 (NLT)
  • Father, teach me how to walk in and by the Spirit.  Holy Spirit, teach me to conduct my life by Your leading only.
  • Lord, show me the areas where I am still not allowing the Holy Spirit to be the leader, executor and worker of all You want to do through me. Help me to surrender to Your leadership, Holy Spirit.
  • Holy Spirit, teach me how to wait on Your definite instructions for Your work.
  • Holy Spirit, take me over completely. I present my body and mind on the altar for Your use. Let me be a living sacrifice.
 We must burn and be aglow but with the Spirit. We must lay down our lives ready to burn, but burn with the fuel of fire; the fuel of the Spirit.”
“For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.” Isaiah 9:5
“Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!” Isaiah 60:1
  • The Holy Spirit will be the only One to fuel this coming move of God in our days.
  • The battle for souls, the spiritual warfare that will ensue in this move of God will be one with fuel of fire- the fire of the Holy Spirit.
  • We must have an inexhaustible supply of ‘oil’. We can’t rise and shine in the gross darkness of these days on dry tanks.
Prayer
  • Lord, help me to lay down my life ready to burn with the fuel of the Holy Spirit. Let my life be combustible material for the Holy Spirit’s fire. Let there be nothing in me that prevents to the workings of the Holy Spirit
  • Let me be aglow and shine with the Spirit’s fire burning continually in me.
  • Holy Spirit, ignite my heart to arise to Your work; kindle Your fire in me that will make me fervent in Your labour.
God Is Here And That To Bless Us
1. God is here, and that to bless us
With the Spirit’s quick’ning power;
See, the cloud already bending,
Waits to drop the grateful shower.
Chorus:
 Let it come, O Lord, we pray Thee,
Let the shower of blessing fall;
We are waiting, we are waiting,
Oh, revive the hearts of all.
2. God is here! We feel His presence
In this consecrated place;
But we need the soul refreshing
Of His free, unbounded grace.
3. God is here! Oh, then, believing,
 Bring to Him our one desire,
That His love may now be kindled,
Till its flame each heart inspire.
4. Saviour, grant the prayer we offer,
While in simple faith we bow,
From the windows of Thy mercy
Pour us out a blessing now.

The Unity of the Spirit

Ephesians 4: 1-6 (King James Version)
1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Ephesians 4: 1-6 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
1 I therefore, the prisoner for the Lord, appeal to and beg you to walk (lead a life) worthy of the [divine] calling to which you have been called [with behavior that is a credit to the summons to God’s service,
2 Living as becomes you] with complete lowliness of mind (humility) and meekness (unselfishness, gentleness, mildness), with patience, bearing with one another and making allowances because you love one another.
Be eager and strive earnestly to guard and keep the harmony and oneness of [and produced by] the Spirit in the binding power of peace.
4 [There is] one body and one Spirit—just as there is also one hope [that belongs] to the calling you received—
5 [There is] one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of [us] all, Who is above all [Sovereign over all], pervading all and [living] in [us] all.

Ephesians 4:1-6 GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
1 I, a prisoner in the Lord, encourage you to live the kind of life which proves that God has called you.
2 Be humble and gentle in every way. Be patient with each other and lovingly accept each other.
3 Through the peace that ties you together, do your best to maintain the unity that the Spirit gives.
4 There is one body and one Spirit. In the same way you were called to share one hope.
5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 one God and Father of all, who is over everything, through everything, and in everything.

Ephesians 4:1-6 Contemporary English Version (CEV)
1 As a prisoner of the Lord, I beg you to live in a way that is worthy of the people God has chosen to be his own.
2 Always be humble and gentle. Patiently put up with each other and love each other.
3 Try your best to let God’s Spirit keep your hearts united. Do this by living at peace
4 All of you are part of the same body. There is only one Spirit of God, just as you were given one hope when you were chosen to be God’s people.
5 We have only one Lord, one faith, and one baptism.
6 There is one God who is the Father of all people. Not only is God above all others, but he works by using all of us, and he lives in all of us.

Points to Note:
  • There is a ‘unity of the Spirit’ that exists already. We are urged to maintain, preserve, keep, guard this unity.
  • We are not called to produce or conjure this unity. This unity is produced and created by the Holy Spirit Himself and is of Him alone. It is neither man-made nor orchestrated by human means. No amount of good administration or structures can produce this unity because it is born by the Spirit.
  • The Holy Spirit is the only One who can keep our hearts united in the Body of Christ. It is a mystery and a miracle.
  • The 120 disciples of Jesus experienced this unity BEFORE Pentecost (Acts 2:1) because they has received a measure of the Spirit (John 20:22).
  • After Pentecost (the outpouring of the Holy Spirit), this unity became vivid and obvious to all in a very practical way (Acts 2:44-47; 4:32-37).
  • It is the work of the Holy Spirit to mould the bBody of Christ and keep her in unity.
  • The example of Annanias and Sapphira in Acts 5 show how much this unity and oneness means to the Holy Spirit and how much it grieves Him when it is tampered with.
  • This unity is refreshing and precious – Psalm 133 (LB) and where it exists, God promises His blessing (Psalm 133 GNB).
  • This is the same unity that exists among the Trinity, the Godhead (John 17:11, 21-23).
  • Ephesians 4:4a – one body. This unity is about ONE BODY – THE BODY OF CHRIST.
  • This unity and oneness is a pre-condition for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit that we are waiting for…

So let us pray…
  • I thank You, Holy Spirit, for the miraculous unity of the Body of Christ. Thank You for this precious oil and refreshing dew of unity that You produce in Christ’s body.
  • Holy Spirit, I ask You to give me insight into this unity and its significance, its implications for my life and walk in Christ.
  • Holy Spirit, only You can produce unity in the Body of Christ. Help me not to embark on any fruitless activities by trying to forge unity through human means.
  • This unity is about the Body of Christ. Holy Spirit, help me to be able to discern the Body so that I do not grieve You by insensitive actions.
  • My part in this unity is to make every effort to keep, maintain, preserve and guard it as I live in peace with other members of the Body. Help me to do my part, Lord. Don’t let the Body suffer disunity because I am not living in peace as I should. Show me the different areas and ways in which I should be following peace with others.
  • Holy Spirit, help me not to fall into the error of Annanias and Sapphira. Work in my heart so that I will never take Your presence for granted in all that I do, especially in any labour You allow me to be involved in.
  • Holy Spirit, by Your miraculous power, let there be unity in the Body of Christ in our day, just as it was with the early church. Help us to be one in mind, purpose, vision, focus, prayer and in our faith in the Son of God.
  • Lord, in our day, let the world know that we are disciples of Christ because of the unity and love that is evident for all to see. Let the practical fruits of unity be demonstrated powerfully like in the early church. Let unity of the Spirit be a great witness for Christ in our day.
  • Make us one, in Your Body, Lord, by Your Spirit. Uproot everything that is working against the unity of the Spirit and bind our hearts together in the bond of peace.

You are building a people of power
And You’re building a people of praise
Who will march through this land by Your Spirit
And will glorify Your precious Name

Make us one, Lord
Make us strong, Lord
Join our hearts, Lord, through Your Son
Make us one, Lord, in Your Body
In the kingdom of Your Son

The Comforter - Abide with Us in Greater Measure

Join this HeartCry Prayer - Every Monday - Wednesday and Friday 11:30am - 1:30pm (UK time)

Acts 2:1-13
"When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.” 1So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?” Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.”

Acts 2: 36-39
“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.

We have received the same promises of the Father concerning the Holy Spirit as men of old and even those in contemporary times. Men like Paul, Peter, Stephen and Timothy took hold of this same promise and walked in incredible measure of the Holy Spirit’s anointing or presence. Brothers like A. B. Simpson, Hudson Taylor, Thomas Watson and many others have walked in the fullness of this promise. We are still being affected by their lives today.

HIMSELF -  by A. B. Simpson

Once it was the blessing, Now it is the Lord;
Once it was the feeling, Now it is His Word.
Once His gifts I wanted, Now the Giver own;
Once I sought for healing, Now Himself alone.

Once 'twas painful trying, Now 'tis perfect trust;
Once a half salvation, Now the uttermost.
Once 'twas ceaseless holding, Now He holds me fast;
Once 'twas constant drifting, Now my anchor's cast.

Once 'twas busy planning, Now 'tis trustful prayer;
Once 'twas anxious caring, Now He has the care.
Once 'twas what I wanted, Now what Jesus says;
Once 'twas constant asking, Now 'tis ceaseless praise.

Once it was my working, His it hence shall be;
Once I tried to use Him, Now He uses me.
Once the power I wanted, Now the Mighty One;
Once for self I labored, Now for Him alone.

Once I hoped in Jesus, Now I know He's mine;
Once my lamps were dying, Now they brightly shine.
Once for death I waited, Now His coming hail;
And my hopes are anchored, Safe within the veil.

Prayers
  • Holy Spirit, Pentecostal power, come stir up a holy, ravishing and insatiable hunger in me for a greater measure of Your presence in me. Let my life begin to experience a greater dimension of Your ministry in my life.
  • Come, Holy Spirit, strengthen me deep in my innermost being so that CHRIST can dwell in my heart through faith. (Ephesians 3:15).
  • Holy Spirit, help me to understand the reality of ‘Christ in me’. Let it not be a song or just a topic or an idea but a reality in my own experience. Help me to know that I am not trying to live CHRIST’s life but HE HIMSELF is living HIS life in me. (Galatians 2:20).
  • Lord, let the eyes of my understanding be enlightened concerning CHRIST and the life He wants to live in me. Help me to look nowhere else but to CHRIST who lives in me. Open my eyes, Holy Spirit and help me see CHRIST as my life, my faith, my love, my wisdom, my healing and my ALL.
  • Holy Spirit, guide me and lead me until I have attended the funeral of my old life and its clutter. Bring me to the place where I am completely emptied, finished and reckoned as dead.
  • Holy Spirit, come and fill me to a greater measure, a greater dimension for the labour that lies ahead of me. Don’t let me be wanting in the measure of Your presence and anointing that I need to be useful in the Master’s hands.
  • Holy Spirit, whatever it is that You did in the lives of our brothers of old, please come and do it in my life too.
  •  Holy Spirit, breathe on me and activate ALL the aspects of the life of CHRIST in me. Help me to come to the full measure of the stature of CHRIST.
  • Holy Spirit, help me to settle down in these days and tarry until I am endued with your power to be an effective witness for JESUS CHRIST. I cannot be a witness for CHRIST without You testifying of CHRIST in and through me.

THE HOLY SPIRIT – Bringing Gospel Impact By the Anointing

John 16:8-11 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
8 “When the Helper comes, he will show the people of the world how wrong they are about sin, about being right with God, and about judgment. 9 He will prove that they are guilty of sin, because they don’t believe in me. 10 He will show them how wrong they are about how to be right with God. The Helper will do this, because I am going to the Father. You will not see me then. 11 And he will show them how wrong their judgment is, because their leader has already been condemned.

John 16:8-11 Living Bible (TLB)
8 “And when he has come he will convince the world of its sin, and of the availability of God’s goodness, and of deliverance from judgment.  9 The world’s sin is unbelief in me;  10 there is righteousness available because I go to the Father and you shall see me no more;  11 there is deliverance from judgment because the prince of this world has already been judged.

John 16:8-11 The Message (MSG)
8-11 “When he comes, he’ll expose the error of the godless world’s view of sin, righteousness, and judgment: He’ll show them that their refusal to believe in me is their basic sin; that righteousness comes from above, where I am with the Father, out of their sight and control; that judgment takes place as the ruler of this godless world is brought to trial and convicted.

John 16:8-11 GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
8 He will come to convict the world of sin, to show the world what has God’s approval, and to convince the world that God judges it.  9 He will convict the world of sin, because people don’t believe in me.  10 He will show the world what has God’s approval, because I’m going to the Father and you won’t see me anymore.  11 He will convince the world that God judges it, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

Acts 10:44-47
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.  46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered, 47 “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”  48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.

Luke 4:18-19 New King James Version (NKJV)
18“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

v  The Holy Spirit is ALWAYS present where the gospel is being preached or restated.

v  It is the Holy Spirit who takes the gospel of Jesus Christ and impresses its truth and power to save on the souls of men.

v  The anointing is the Holy Spirit upon a person. The presence of the Holy Spirit is synonymous with the presence of the anointing. Acts 10:38, 1 Sam 16:12-13.

v  The anointing is the Holy Spirit manifesting tangibly through a person to God’s bidding.

v  The anointing is not an influence, power or force – the anointing is the Person of the Holy Spirit who abides in us achieving and accomplishing the purpose of God in and through us.

v  The anointing is not synonymous with an office or position. In fact, when the anointing is absent, the office becomes a problem subjecting both God and His work to ridicule.

v  One can be anointed without having a man-ordained office.

v  As the gospel is being restated to us in this season, we need the vivid presence of the Holy Spirit to bring God’s desired impact in lives:
  • To convict us of sin, deliver us from its yoke and bring us to the Cross of Calvary.
  • To help us understand that the righteousness acceptable to God is not our own but His righteousness by faith in Christ.
  • To prove that the judgement day is a reality.
  • To open the eyes of the spiritually blind to the truth of the complete gospel.
  • To deliver those who have been kept in bondage to the sinful nature (Adam’s nature)  and empty religion
  • To bring many sons to glory in Christ Jesus through deliberate discipleship.
  • To prepare us for eternity with Jesus in heaven.

Prayer Points

·    Holy Spirit, please attend to us in this season when the gospel of Christ is being restated so deliberately to us.

·      Holy Spirit, we desire Your vivid and tangible presence in our lives working the mystery of the gospel into the very fabric of our lives.

·      For many who are hearing the complete gospel restated for the first time, Holy Spirit, come and convince them of its truth. Let them see what they have not seen before and take away every veil and blindness.

·       Come, Holy Spirit and let Your anointing be upon those who are restating the gospel to us at this time – deliver many who have been kept in bondage to the old nature through the deception of empty religion. With the restating of the gospel, Holy Spirit bring about liberty to those who have been oppressed by false prophets and teachers.

·         Holy Spirit, by Your great power, deliver us from self-righteousness and the need to ‘do’. Help us to see that we have no righteousness of our own but that which is by faith in Christ Jesus.

·       As you did in the house of Cornelius, Holy Spirit come upon everyone who is hearing the gospel restated and bring true salvation to the hearts of all. Acts 10:44.

·    We pray for tonight’s Mystery of the Gospel Platform, Holy Spirit come and anoint your vessels for Your use. As they speak, let the Word be accompanied by signs following. Let there be a demonstration of  Your power and not the eloquence or wisdom of man.

The Comforter Brings Revelaton

John 16:7-15Amplified Bible (AMP)
7 But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you]. 8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world about [the guilt of] sin [and the need for a Savior], and about righteousness, and about judgment: 9 about sin [and the true nature of it], because they do not believe in Me [and My message]; 10 about righteousness [personal integrity and godly character], because I am going to My Father and you will no longer see Me; 11 about judgment [the certainty of it], because the ruler of this world (Satan) has been judged and condemned. 12 “I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear [to hear] them now. 13 But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth [full and complete truth]. For He will not speak on His own initiative, but He will speak whatever He hears [from the Father—the message regarding the Son], and He will disclose to you what is to come [in the future]. 14 He will glorify and honor Me, because He (the Holy Spirit) will take from what is Mine and will disclose it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Because of this I said that He [the Spirit] will take from what is Mine and will reveal it to you.

1 Corinthians 2:7-13 Amplified Bible (AMP)
7 but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the wisdom once hidden [from man, but now revealed to us by God, that wisdom] which God predestined before the ages to our glory [to lift us into the glory of His presence]. 8 None of the rulers of this age recognized and understood this wisdom; for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory; 9 but just as it is written [in Scripture], “Things which the eye has not seen and the ear has not heard,
And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him [who hold Him in affectionate reverence, who obey Him, and who gratefully recognize the benefits that He has bestowed].” 10 For God has unveiled them and revealed them to us through the [Holy] Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things [diligently], even [sounding and measuring] the [profound] depths of God [the divine counsels and things far beyond human understanding]. 11 For what person knows the thoughts and motives of a man except the man’s spirit within him? So also no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the [Holy] Spirit who is from God, so that we may know and understand the [wonderful] things freely given to us by God. 13 We also speak of these things, not in words taught or supplied by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining and interpreting spiritual thoughts with spiritual words [for those being guided by the Holy Spirit].

I Corinthians 2:9-12 (New English Bible)
9 But, in the word of Scripture, ‘Things beyond our seeing, things beyond our hearing, things beyond our imagining, all prepared by God for those who love Him’, 10 these it is that God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit explores everything, even the depths of God’s won nature. 11 Among men, who knows what a man is but the man’s own spirit. In the same way, only the Spirit of God knows what God is. 12 This is the Spirit that we have received from God, and not the spirit of this world, so that we may know all that God of his own grace has given us;

·    The Comforter who abides with us, is the One who reveals to ALL that we need to know. Without His abiding presence, we are totally in the dark.

Prayer: Father, thank You for sending the promised Comforter to us and for not leaving us in the dark. How would we have coped with the truth of the mystery of the gospel without the Spirit of Truth who reveals things that are beyond human imagination? We thank You, Lord!

·   The ministry of the Comforter in our lives is to reveal, unveil, disclose, uncover, expose, unravel, lay bare, unwrap, bring out, divulge and let out things that are normally beyond our sight, our hearing and our imagination.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, abide with me! Reveal, unveil, unravel and lay bare the things of God to my heart. Unwrap and disclose the mind of the Father to me.

·   The Spirit we have received, the Comforter who abides with us forever, takes the things of Christ’s life that we can’t imagine and discloses them to us.

Ephesians 1:16-18 Good News Translation (GNT)
16 I have not stopped giving thanks to God for you. I remember you in my prayers  17 and ask the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, to give you the Spirit, who will make you wise and reveal God to you, so that you will know him.  18 I ask that your minds may be opened to see his light, so that you will know what is the hope to which he has called you, how rich are the wonderful blessings he promises his people,

Prayer: Spirit of God, disclose to my heart the things pertaining to this new life of Christ in me. Without Your help I can never fully imagine the life I’ve been called to live. Open my mind to the realities of the new creation life.

·   The many things we could not bare or handle or grasp before (i.e the mystery of the gospel), NOW that we have the Comforter abiding with us, we can understand them and walk in them.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, Spirit of Truth, reveal the mystery of the gospel to my heart. Help me to grasp fully the mysteriousness of the complete un-fragmented gospel. Take away any shadow of doubt or lack of clarity I may have about the complete gospel.

Holy Spirit, make plain to me the things Jesus has spoken to me so that I can gain understanding and live them.

·   Who could really understand or handle the truth of the mysterious gospel of Jesus Christ unless the Holy Spirit testifies and bears witness of Him in us?  (John 15:26)

Prayer: Holy Spirit, please testify and bear witness of Christ in my heart. Let my heart be filled with the revelation of Christ and Him crucified.

·    We have not received the spirit of this world, but the Spirit of God Himself so that we can know and understand everything that God has provided for us inside Christ.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, unravel and divulge to me all that has been provided for me in Christ. Help me to see clearly and vividly the premise, position & location, provision and privileges of the new creation life.

·    We must learn to wait on the Holy Spirit for revelation. As Jesus did nothing but what He saw His Father do, so also we must learn to wait for the Holy Spirit to reveal the mind of God to us in any situation.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, teach me to wait silently and patiently on You to reveal to me what the Father is doing everyday of my life. Open my eyes and illuminate my heart, Spirit Divine.

Revelation 4:1-5 ~ King James Version (KJV)
4 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. 2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. 3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.
4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

One of the expressions of the Holy Spirit is FIRE! John the Baptist said, “…He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” (Luke 3:16)

ü  Holy Spirit, I acknowledge Your abiding presence today. Thank You for being with me in my weaknesses. Thank You for not leaving me.
ü  Today, I come soberly confessing my neglect of You. Forgive me for not yielding to Your work and dealings in and with me.
ü  Holy Spirit, today in particular, I sense our deep need of Your fire in my life. Please burn like a white-hot flame in my heart.

Luke 12:49 (ESR) – Jesus continued speaking: I came to bring fire to the world. I wish it were already kindled.

Proverbs 6:27 (KJV) – Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? 28 Can one walk on hot coals and his feet not be seared?

When we take His fire into our hearts, the leprous, filthy clothes of our old life are being burned away. When we walk with Him in the fire of His presence, we are walking on fiery coals and our feet are being seared to walk in the narrow way of righteousness, holiness and obedience.

ü  Holy Spirit, kindle Your fire in me. Your fire that brings a complete separation from the old nature and purges me from any traces or residues of it.
ü  Holy Spirit, please let Your fire consume every clothing of the flesh still in ‘wardrobe’.
ü  Strip me by Your fire, Holy Spirit. Empty me, finish me.
ü  Holy Spirit fire, burn in me until there is none of me and until my life shines and radiates nothing but CHRIST.
ü  I surrender to Your refining fire, Holy Spirit. Purify me, Lord and make me fit for Your purpose. I put on display all the debris of the flesh still in my life; consume it in Your fire today. Consume the dross of worldliness from my life and lay me bare for Your use.

John 5:35 Amplified Bible (AMP) -  John was the lamp that kept on burning and shining [to show you the way], and you were willing for a while to rejoice in his light.

ü  Holy Spirit, keep me burning until Jesus returns. Don’t let me be lukewarm
ü  Rev 4:5 ~ Holy Spirit, light Your burning fire in my heart. Let my life be like a burning lamp burning before Your throne.
ü  Holy Spirit, let Your burning jealousy have its consuming way in my life until every competing affection and false god is completely burned away and until one raging, all-consuming passion fills my entire being  - love for the altogether Lovely One – JESUS CHRIST.

The Great Deception

The Holy Spirit is in charge of the church of Jesus Christ today. He is the person of God who is working on earth today and He is God’s agent of revival.

Despite the pitiful state of His church, the Holy Spirit is at work to make her ready for the Lord’s coming. The Holy Spirit will make sure that the church is without spot or wrinkle at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 5:27 – “that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but she shall be holy and without blemish.”

Even though certain men have crept in unnoticed (Jude verse 4) into the church and have deceived many, still when the Lord comes, His church will be holy and without blemish.
The Holy Spirit has a weapon to use against the invasion of deception in these days.

Ephesians 6:17b – “...and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.” (NKJV)
“And accept…the word of God as the sword the Spirit gives you.” (GNB)
“And take...the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the word of God.” (AMP)

What is the weapon Word of God? The Truth!
John 17:17 – “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.”
The Laodicean church of our days thinks it’s already having a revival because certain men who are operating under demonic influence are performing miracles. This is a great deception. When we know the truth, we are set free from the power of the deceiver.
The Holy Spirit gives us this sword to attack the enemy and to pierce the hearts of both the deceivers and the deceived. The Holy Spirit, being the Spirit of Truth, also helps us to discern the deception.

Prayers for us
  • Thank You, Holy Spirit, our Helper. Thank You for abiding with me in this our day. Thank You for bearing with me.
  • Holy Spirit, in Your mercy, please help me to connect with You desperately, deliberately, consistently and steadfastly. Help me to keep looking unto You only.
  • Help me to see my need of You, Holy Spirit. Help me not to think that I cannot be deceived. Make me see how vulnerable I am to deception without Your help.
  • Holy Spirit, anoint my spiritual eyes that I may not turn away from the truth when others are being deceived.
  • Holy Spirit, open my eyes more and more in spiritual understanding and revelation of the Word concerning the times that we are in now. Holy Spirit, help me to be more grounded in the Word myself, not having to depend on any man for the Word.
  •  Holy Spirit, give me eyes to see and ears to hear; don’t let me be blind to the deception around me.
  • Help me to wield the sword of Spirit – using the Word of God with insight and understanding to withstand this great deception.
Prayers for the Church
  • Lord, have mercy on Your church for allowing certain men to creep in unnoticed to deceive.
  • Lord, please have mercy on the unsuspecting people in churches who are being deceived by doctrines of demons.
  • Holy Spirit, please visit the church and exalt the truth of God’s Word to expose every deception.
  • Lord, many of those leaders who are now operating under the influence of demons started out with You and with Your Spirit. Please have mercy on them, visit them and deliver them by the truth of Your Word.
  • Holy Spirit, please raise up men and women who will carry You to the pulpits to take a stand against the doctrines of demons. Lord, multiply disciples, those who have connected with the Holy Spirit.
  • Like You counselled the Laodicean church, Lord, please bring the church of today to repentance and help her turn from her wicked way to the path of righteousness.
  •  Holy Spirit, please protect those who have not come under the influence of this deceptive age. Keep them by Your truth.
  • Holy Spirit, please bring about the genuine revival that will counteract every falsehood and glorify God.
