His call:
- Jesus called Peter and his
brother Andrew. Matthew 4:18
His training:
- Peter was one of the
disciples that went up the mount with Jesus, as He taught them (Sermon on
the Mount or Beatitudes (i.e. the attitudes to be as His disciples). Matthew
5-7
- We saw how Peter walked with
the Master through the Gospels.
Peter’s denial of Jesus:
- Peter followed His master at
a distance. Luke 22:54-62
- He warmed himself with the
enemy’s fire - the servants and the guards set up a fire as they were
cold.
- Christ’s life had robbed on
Peter so much, it could not be denied.
- It was obvious that he had
been with Jesus.
- Peter remembered the Word of
the Lord.
- After the word of the Lord
came to pass, Peter was repentant.
- Peter went out and wept
bitterly (with painfully moving grief - Amplified Version)
After Pentecost:
- New wine transformed Peter’s
life; a lame man was healed through the power of the new wine in him and
John. He had boldness to address the Sanhedrin.
- Peter addressed a crowd after
which the they asked, “Men and brethren what shall we do?” Acts
2:14-37
- 3000 souls were added
to them. Acts 2:40-47
- They continued in the
Apostles doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and in prayers.
- Fear came upon many.
- Many wonders and signs were
done.
- All who believed were
together and had all things in common.
- They sold their possessions
and goods and divided them among all, as anyone had need.
- They continued daily with
one accord in the temple, breaking bread from house to house.
- They ate their food with
gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favour with all
the people.
- The Lord added to the Church
daily, those who were being saved.
- This led to the growth of the Church that the Lord wanted.
Prayer:
- As the Holy Spirit leads.
